Goats Make Me Worry

NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH A WEAK STOMACH!

Snow has been trying to make me worry. I found this bump and it popped. We thought it might be CL. After pictures I will tell you why it was not CL. I will also after this post explain what CL is. I plan to go over the different goat things CAE CL Coccidiosis and others. Here's pictures:

She had everyone worried because the location of the bump. This is the classic spot for them to appear. Just below the ear.

Closer picture. You can see yellow pus.

A little bump.

Okay now this was a classic size about the size of a walnut. Also a classic location just below the ear. This had everyone scared to death. How did I know it was not CL? CL abscesses have cheesy tooth paste like pus that comes out. This was just very runny. Also what came out was watery liquid and just a little blood. I am NOT saying that if your goat gets a bump below the ear that it is not CL. I am saying that it is not always. If you have cheesy tooth paste like pus coming out of the bump your goat likely DOES have CL. I had her in quarantine by herself. It has been just over 3 weeks since her bump totally healed she has not had another bump. A warning I will throw out they do not have to appear sick or unhealthy to have CL. You can get the abscess tested by getting a sample of the pus and sending it to the lab or a vet can do it. Down fall with the vet you may not be able to get a appointment before it heals. That's what has happened with Snow. I will get where you can send the sample to and how to it later. I want to break down the different things goats get and make them very ABC's. One thing I have found when researching is that the information is basic and easy to understand they just don't put it in a way that is easy to understand. So I will try to put all these simply for beginners.
